A Pioneer in UK Newborn Safety Awareness.

“I love training. I love it because l’m passionate about newborn safety mostly, and its a joy to spend time with people who share that passion. The other reason l love it is because l get to talk about what l love….. all day! When you book a day with me in my studio, or in yours, you’ll find its informal, fun, and relaxed. People learn best that way. l pass on MY way of doing things. How l style, how l pose, and how l edit if you like, too. But most of all l’ll pass on THE safe way to do things. Hopefully you’ll leave with a full understanding of how to keep newborns safe at all times, as well a host of other skills. Get in touch if you’re interested and l’ll fit in around you.

“I’m just going to put this as it is. Just BOOK the training with Maddy. I have been trained in large groups, by some of the top newborn photographers across the globe. But Maddy gave me one thing, they couldn’t. She gave me 1:1 and hands on. Both are invaluable. Maddy is down to earth, funny and sharp witted, she observed my posing techniques and took me further. She unblocked my own worries about flow posing, settling babies and wrapping.

She gave me confidence in my OWN abilities  too. This is my main take away from the course with Maddy. She has reminded me of my own confidence and all the good things I already do in sessions….and she honed them. My very first studio sessions since the training have seen me coming across as more knowledgeable, confident and secure in my approach and technique. As such the babies have been better settled and I am achieving poses I couldn’t manage previously. Added to this, the retouching section of the training was an eye opener! So many light bulb ‘aha’ moments! I still have a long way to go, but Maddy has given me the confidence to keep on believing and improving.

Thank you so much wonderful lady!”-  REBECCA WARWICK

“My newborn training day with Maddy. She is amazing! I’ve never said ‘wow’ so many times until today. I had so many jaw dropping moments whilst she was training me in the studio and the production after. She helped me with ways to settle and pose baby, wrapping, editing, marketing, everything! I’m very lucky to have been trained by Maddy and I’m so very thankful of what she has taught me, thank you so much Maddy xx” – CHARLIE MARTELL-DOY

“Last year Rebecca and I decided to take the plunge and make a go of photography. Being local to Maddy we had heard of her and had seen her work. We knew that if we could get to be half as good as her then we would be happy. We already knew of another photographer local in the area who put us in some photography groups. Sure enough Maddy was there offering advice to others. Rebecca kept saying to me that she wanted Maddy training. The training was booked and the rest is history! We have noticed a huge increase in bookings and revenue. Maddy offers something we haven’t seen in other trainers and that’s continual, ongoing support and mentoring. Don’t expect her to blow smoke up your arse for the sake of it. If she likes your image she will tell you, if she deems areas for improvement she will tell you. She’s non judgemental and won’t laugh at you or your work. She will help you and laugh with you. Photography is a journey and you won’t find anyone better than Maddy to be on that journey with. Apart from me.” – RICHARD MELBOURNE

“I’m very new to photography still and I have found that often this journey is a lonely one as not many professional photographers are accepting of new photographers. Then in stepped Maddy. I came across her in a photography group and her name kept popping up offering help and advice. This lady runs her own very successful business yet still spends so much of her time mentoring others. I heard about her mentoring group and I knew I had to join – I needed more Maddy in my life. The group is invaluable from the videos she posts which are so helpful, to the challenges she sets in them. For example just a few weeks ago I had never ever touched photoshop and Maddy set a challenge to do a composite in Photoshop. This gave me the push to give it a go and wow – I did it! Maddy is always there to offer advice and encouragement. She doesn’t sugar coat everything which is what you need as a beginner and she wants to help you improve.
I cannot explain how invaluable her group is and I’ve since booked her in for my two days of training and I know that is going to excel my photos and business to another level. I’m so glad I found her.”

“I joined the Maddy Rogers training group about a month ago, I have been an admirer of her work for a while. Even though I have been reluctant to start photography training, I know I made the right decision for choosing Maddy the moment I joined – the group is fun and informal, very down to earth but exceptionally helpful and informative.

We are free to post questions and ask advice or share anything relating to our work, and get advice and opinions from not only the expert herself, but also others in the same position as us. The group is not only made up of brilliant photographers, there are togs on all different levels, so it’s not uncomfortable asking advice etc. M

addy had a live newborn session that she broadcasted, she started the day before when she selected and planned the shoot in terms of colours and props etc – all of this was shown to us – live, with running commentary. The next day baby arrived for her session and we were taken along for the journey, we experienced everything, from Maddy soothing baby etc, all different wrapping techniques, posing, different set ups etc. All of us watching could ask absolutely anything we wanted to know and Maddy “taught” as she went along, we asked question about props, lighting advice, how and why she did certain things etc. A couple of hours after the session Maddy shared the pics with us and we were able to watch her edit – again, lots of useful advice and info.

Through this group, we have been able to learn and experience as near as possible, person to person training as we can, considering physical distance. Not only do we see the amazing images when they have been completed, but we now have insight as to how they are created from the initial planning stages all the way through to editing. I think she has only just scraped the barrel of how useful and helpful this group will become.

She’s a brilliant photographer but even more brilliant a trainer, because she’s so hands-on and down to earth. Can’t wait to learn more and watch the videos again while taking notes! Very glad I joined this group, absolutely worth it.” – SHARON KAPLAN

“I first encountered Maddy Rogers on a fervent search to find myself THE best newborn trainer in the business. All roads seemed to lead to her.
Her images are just exquisite and safety is her number one priority, so to find she was offering access to a private, life long, mentoring group, with regular ‘how to’ vids from an epic 3.5hr full newborn session to videos on photoshop editing techniques was incredible. I don’t think she knows what a truly valuable resource she is to me and the other members of the group!
She is happy to answer any question at all, and quickly and simply explained to boot!
Einstein once said “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough” Maddy explains it beautifully as well as really building your confidence. I’m so impressed I’ve booked a 1:1 with her!” – HANNAH NEECH

OMG I wished I had just bitten the bullet and paid for Maddy all along. The cost really wasn’t much different to group training but I got so much more out of it.

Just having that person next to you talking to you as you are carrying out the steps was incredible. Watching what you are doing and talking you out of your mistakes. For me, my nemesis was wrapping but I nailed several wraps on the day, for the first time EVER. The other workshops are all well and good but I was clear with what I wanted, I wanted my hands on the baby posing and wrapping, its all well and good watching someone else but when you are at work on your own what good is that?

It wasn’t just the posing, the wrapping, the editing, but even done to the prep that I was doing, Maddy talked me through it all. I am so much more confident and ready to face it all head on now. I look at my photos and squeal with delight that I took those images.

I can not wait to put it in to practice and if anyone is sat on the fence pondering about it then please take it from me, I’ve spent £1900 elsewhere in my newborn training which was good in its own various ways, the first ignited my newborn passion (I attended it for the wrong reasons, not newborn but editing training, and no editing was covered!!), the second I picked up little tips but I could of saved that money and gone straight to the master herself and saved all those months of tears of frustration wanting to quit as well.

I now can’t wait to rock my little business and take lots of stunning photographs, Maddy has given me the tools and knowledge and confidence to do just that! Thank you so very much!

Our training with Maddy is something that we will never ever forget! A total game changer! She has made me think about so many things and I’ve come away from our training with tips, tricks and trade secrets – or so they seemed to me!
The first day; Maddy came to our studio and we discussed all what we would learn over a coffee, now I expected her to have a standard session that she would show me. Boy was I wrong! She had put so much effort into tailoring the training to exactly what I needed! Our first model arrived and I observed Maddy as she spoke to Mum and settled everybody in and explained what would happen. I then watched as Maddy had baby sleeping within minutes. Now this was like witchcraft to me – The hours I had spent trying to get a baby to sleep … let along try and pose!
I watched in awe and amazement as Maddy showed me how to make sure baby was safe at all times and went into great detail about how to use props and transition baby from one pose to another in great ease!
The session seemed to fly by and by the end of it I was panicking and worrying that it had all gone in one ear and out the other! After we had tidied up a little and gone to look at the images she had taken she went over some lightroom and photoshop info and she showed us how she would edit her images to get her style.
Once Maddy had left myself and rich (my husband and business partner) were on a high. We practiced wrapping (what I had observed) and posing our pretend baby in different props with different colours and backdrops. We were hooked.
Day two was my day to shine and with Maddy helping me to put into practice what I had learnt I felt so nervous! I won’t lie ….. now I’m not the most confident person so I knew this wasn’t going to be easy for me! Our second model came and Maddy helped me to wrap baby and guess what …. baby slept! Within minutes! Just like I had observed the day before! I did that! Me!! This is what Maddy had done! She had helped me to understand what this baby needed. How to read baby and soothe baby! This stood me in good stead to get baby into a whole variety of poses throughout the session! My confidence sky rocketed at around 30 minutes into the session! Even the mother and grandmother of our model commented on how I suddenly beamed with confidence!
Maddy did this for me! This is why I believe her training to be the absolute best. The elite of all training! She has helped my business immensely and has been the biggest asset! My training is still ongoing with Maddy, it doesn’t end in the studio. She gives me video critiques whenever I ask for them, she is always more than willing to spend a bit of time with me with any questions or queries I may have – no matter how silly I may think they are!
Maddy has an incredible aura about her, she tailors the session to you and makes you feel completely at ease! Anybody thinking about training then I can not recommend her enough! Her training will be the best investment you can make for your business!

We are photographer duo and we are the proud owners of a boutique photography studio based in Hong Kong specialising in family portraits, maternity and newborn babies. However, when it comes to newborn session, which we love the most, handling babies can prove to be rather difficult especially when handling the newborn baby and constantly worrying about the baby’s safety throughout the session. While we were looking for a specialist who could help us overcome that hurdle, we are very excited to find Maddy Rogers details on the website. Her amazing reputation and her spectacular work ensured that we make the flight from Hong Kong to meet her at her studio in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, UK.

We decided on a two day private training session at Maddy’s lovely studio. As soon as we arrived, we knew we had made the right decision. Maddy’s warm personality made us feel at home. She shared with us how she would prepare the parents and their expectations before their arrival while she prepared all the props and kit needed for this session. When the baby and the parents arrived, Maddy thoroughly went through exactly how she would do things such as posing tips, transiting between two settings, reading sleep and soothing techniques without holding back on anything. She showed us techniques as to how to connect with the baby, which poses the baby would be more comfortable in, the importance of a confident and firm supporting hand which will help give the baby a feeling of safety and trust. Watching her conduct the session in such a smooth and professional manner was fascinating. The amount we learned from her is phenomenal and we came home with so many skills, insights, styling and practical tips.

On the second day was the practical part of the session which was both exciting and a little nerve racking at the same time. We chose a few of the preferred sets out of Maddy’s extensive baby props collection and luckily Maddy offered an exquisite basket, new unicorn headband and few other amazing props for the session. We had a beautiful baby girl and Maddy helped us on the side by using the faux ‘StandIn’ baby to replicate the wrapping, smoothing, and posing with the real baby in my arms. Maddy also showed us how to find the most flattering shooting angles that parents love; how to create a varied and attractive image from evolution on a wrapping pose. All these learning were only possible because of the amazing support, encouragement and training we had received on the 1st day.

We finished the day with a Photoshop and Lightroom editing techniques refresher. Maddy showed us how she edits the images and creates those pretty creamy skin tones that all newborn pictures have. She also showed us some marketing ideas through facebook business pages and shared a few of her business supporting resources.

With Liza assisting on the baby poses and Vincent being the photographer, our course came to an end. We came back from the session feeling more knowledgeable, confident and safety-conscious than ever before. There is no doubt that we chose the right person to train us and we can’t wait to start photographing our client’s newborn babies in a brand new and professional style.

We would like to thank Maddy once again for an unforgettable experience, which we have been able to take back and use. You are certainly a highly recommended trainer in that extremely specialist area of newborn photography.

Maddy is our mentor in the newborn photography and I’m sure our story doesn’t stop here…

Liza and Vincent Wan

I already have a lot of photography experience and have enjoyed some exciting trips to expand my skills, but when it came to training in the extremely specialist area of newborn photography, there was only one person I wanted to work with; Maddy Rogers.

Maddy has an amazing reputation and her work is spectacular, so it wasn’t a bind to make the flight from the Isle of Man to meet her at her studio in Lincolnshire and as soon as I arrived, I knew I’d made the right choice. I’d decided on a two-day course and she had a fantastic 48 hours planned.

I had already completed some newborn shoots, but I was keen to really hone my posing skills, as well as general techniques, and on the first day, I met Oliver; a beautiful little boy who was to be photographed. Watching Maddy close her sets and put the family at ease was inspirational and I can’t deny that I took a lot of notes, like a bit of a nerd, but there was so much to take in and I didn’t want to overlook anything!

Learning how to properly soothe and settle a baby for a photo shoot was fascinating. I have three children of my own, but this was different. Getting to know Oliver properly and connecting with him allowed us to understand which poses he would be comfortable in; a vital element for his welfare and safety and it gave me a great insight into just how frequently supports (often a hand) are used and edited out at a later stage.

Understanding which angles to shoot from and how to light a sleeping baby was a revelation, as you want them to stay asleep and calm. This lead to a wonderfully frank discussion about when you should and more importantly, when you shouldn’t try certain poses or props. Finishing the day with a refresher course on Photoshop and Lightroom, we looked at how to seamlessly remove supports from finished pictures and create those pretty creamy skin tones that all newborn pictures have. A fantastic day, it left me excited for the next!

Day two came around and I was ‘running’ the shoot, which was exciting and a little daunting at the same time. I chose my preferred sets and was lucky enough to have the beautiful baby Harper Rose as my subject. She settled with me quickly after some reading, a trick I use with my own children, and we got to work snapping some dreamy shots.

Maddy was quick to help me find those perfect and flattering angles that parents adore and even had a realistic ‘stand in’ baby to practice wrapping. It’s amazing just how useful a faux baby can be, as you can set up an entire shot, without disturbing a sleeping babe and then bring them in when you’re ready. Genius!

With my finished final shot taken, my course came to an end and I left Maddy feeling more knowledgeable, confident and safety-conscious than ever before. There’s no doubt in my mind that I chose the right person to train with and I can’t wait to start photographing in my own studio now.Brooke

My 2 day 1:1 training with Maddy was the best decision I ever made and the support alone is worth every penny.
On the first day Maddy ran the session exactly as she would if it was a paid session, she talked me through every thought
process, from picking what she’s going to use during the session, to how to speak to the parents, how to get those
gorgeous shots and why its better to shoot at certain angles.
Then we had a bit of lunch (and Maddy makes a mean wrap), next we went to Maddy’s office and she went through her editing,
she showed me exactly how she would edit the session and would explain why she made those choices.
The second day was my turn to run the session, I got to rummage through Maddy’s extensive collection of wraps, outfits,
props and backdrops and got to pick out exactly what I wanted to use. Maddy let me get on with this, its good to learn
what goes well together and what you want to use, Maddy would help by finding matching hats or bottoms to an item I’d
pick. When the baby arrived (a different baby to the previous day) we talked to the parents and then it was my turn to
set the shots up. Maddy would help me tweak the poses slightly and perfect the shots.
It was great to have someone there during my first session and I could see results straight away when I followed the
advice I was given.

After the training you get to become a member of a private Facebook group where all those that Maddy has taught,
and even Maddy herself, whether by herself or as part of ‘The Newborn Workshop’, are there to help each other
with any questions and give advice on how to improve shots.

I’d really recommend the training with Maddy, the training and help you receive on the day and afterwards is just above

and beyond what you could ever ask for.”

What can I say!… From the moment Maddy welcomed me into her home my learning begun. A very relaxed approach but very informative with constant commentary throughout the day, giving hints and tips that I will take away and use a lot as well as posing baby safely and techniques to achieve certain images. Thank you Maddy, an investment for me that was worth every penny.

My Husband and a I went on Maddy’s amazing newborn training course in the summer.

From the moment we got there Maddy made us feel at ease, and was happy to share all her knowledge and expertise with us.There was so much to learn in a day and we came out feeling inspired and creative and couldn’t wait to start. Maddy’s training day involved photographing a newborn baby which was amazing! Watching Maddy handle and pose the baby was really helpful as we had never done this before, she talked us through everything step by step from posing the baby, to lighting, how to use different props, how to calm the baby and afterwards how to edit to high standards! She was always relaxed and calm and happy to answer all the questions we where firing at her all day long! Her expertise in not only her incredible images but also how she posed and handled the baby was inspiring!

Thank you Maddy!

From the moment I first contacted Maddy I was welcomed with great enthusiasm and support. Entering the world of newborn photography is certainly daunting, but Maddy’s warm smile and friendly approach puts you instantly at ease.

At the start of the day, I was welcomed into Maddy’s family home for a coffee and a chat and Maddy explained how we would approach the session. We covered equipment, parent preparation, creating a suitably calm environment, safe posing, editing techniques and marketing ideas.

I came away with a wealth of knowledge, a selection of stunning images and even a beautifully presented gift bag; packed with goodies and useful vouchers to get me started.

Maddy is extremely passionate about photography and takes great pride in her work. She openly shares her expertise, experience and advice and I have gained so much from our mentoring day. She is a skilled and thoughtful teacher and her general approach to training is relaxed and effective.

The experience was truly invaluable and I came away feeling totally inspired and excited to move forward with my business. I would highly recommend Maddy to anybody thinking about offering newborn photography – It really is the most worthwhile business investment I have made to date.

Maddy really is a gem – I am so glad I chose her as my mentor and her ongoing support has been incredible.

I have attended Maddy’s 1:2:1 workshop few days ago and it was the best workshop I have ever been to. The day started off with a nice cuppa and Maddy explaining the props and tips prior to the newborn photo shoot. During the photo shoots, I have learnt how to sooth baby, read sleep and pose. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and even though I have started taking newborn pictures already, there are lots of techniques to be learnt. Maddy was more like a friend than mentor and I felt very comfortable firing away all my questions.I was very happy to go home feeling that my purpose of going to the workshop has been truely fulfilled by a great mentor.

Thank you Maddy. You are the best!

Maddy is a great teacher who is passionate about newborn baby photography and this came through when I first contacted her and was one of the reasons why I booked a 1- 2 – 1 session with her.

The day was designed specifically around what I wanted to learn which meant I got the most from the day. I met Maddy at her home and over a coffee we went through the agenda for the day and she asked if there was anything else I wanted to cover and any areas which I needed more information / help on.

What I liked the most about the workshop was that I got to see how Maddy works from start to finish. Our first task was styling the shoot and getting props ready as well as camera equipment for the shoot. We then made our way to the clients home and Maddy went about setting up and liaising with the client, I got to see how she approached the shoot, how she interacted with the client and more importantly the baby. We looked at the set up and went through what she was looking for and why she did things the way she does. This was invaluable advice as Maddy has perfected her set up which would have taken me a long to have learnt through trial and error. We spend most of the session taking about how to handle the baby, the right conditions and what to do in certain situations. During this time we got to pose the baby and take some fabulous photographs.

It was an intensive 4 – 5 hour shoot full of valuable information which would have taken me a long time to lean. Maddy did not hold back on anything she gave more then 100% and just kept going during the shoot. After the shoot we went back to her home and she then went through the next stage of downloading the photographs and the post production. We also touched on marketing and sales and she talked through how does this.

I felt the day was a great investment for me and our business and it will certainly help us introduce this type of photography to our business. Maddy’s work does not just finish there she still keep sin touch with me and when I have a few questions / need advice she has been there for me and this is another reason I am glad I went with Maddy.”
