Grimsby Christmas Lights Switch On! – Maddy Rogers Photography Lincs

Hands up whose feeling a bit, blah! now that Halloween and bonfire night are over, the clocks have changed and the weather has taken a turn for the worse? Not just us then? It’s that in between stage of the year, where Christmas is still a way off and it feels like darker mornings and evenings are all we have to look forward to.

We are busy welcoming gorgeous babies to the studio for newborn sessions, older kids for the last few of our xmas mini sessions and I’m also busy with training. I’m sure all you parents out there are equally busy with kids, work and life. So what’s next to look forward to?

For people with children we highly recommend the Grimsby Christmas light switch on, on Thursday the 21st of November.

There will be things going on in the town centre from 12 noon, up till late evening with the Christmas tree and illuminations switch on occurring in The Bullring and The Minster Quarter at 7pm. The switch on will be performed by a local Hero!

The theme is A Magical Enchanted Christmas with Santa, Elves, Seasonal music and incredible LIVE ice carving by Glacial Art Sculptors. Pop to Riverhead for a family fun fair, rides and a Christmas parade at 5.30pm. Victoria Street will host a street food market. You can meet Santa in Freshney Place and see performers on the main stage in The Minster Quarter.

The lights are set to be even more spectacular this year due to Visitor Economy Services winning a competition that saw a prize of £1000.00 added to their lights budget. You may even bump into actor and Aladdin Panto star Michael Courteney as he ‘flies’ in for the evening.

Make sure you also take a look at all the shops entering the window display competition too, for a good dose of festive cheer. With so much to do and see, we see it as the perfect antidote to a cold and miserable November, and just the thing to get into the Christmas spirit.
