If you go back about 8 or 9 years, newborn photography in the UK wasn’t really a thing yet. There were a few incredibly inspiring ladies in America producing amazing images, and as I was just getting the bug for digital photography, this new genre caught my eye.
I have always adored that something special newborns have. As a little girl I would run off in shops if I heard a new baby cry. I wanted to go and see. All my dolls had to look realistic too so I felt I had a real baby in my arms. It’s how they feel, how they smell, and how innocent they are. I then went on to have four babies of my own, and while I love my now grown up babies, them as newborns was always the most captivating time for me.
So when I started to investigate newborn photography I realised this was it. This was what I wanted to do. Needed to do. I became obsessed researching the hows and the why’s, emailing other experienced newborn specialists hoping for advice, trawling the internet for ways to learn. It wasn’t long before I was building my business around something I had totally fallen in love with, and as it turned out, was one of the very first in the UK to do so.
Now 8 years on I’m one of the most experienced at newborn photography the UK has to offer, and I love it just as much, if not more than when I started. Now I have a new baby of my own…my business, and I welcome you to take a look around my site and hopefully my love for what I do will shine through.
l’m based in leafy Grimsby in Lincolnshire, right on the east coast. I have a cute little studio at my home which is designed to welcome you and your new baby and give you all a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
My love for this industry, and its tiny clients, means I am also passionate about keeping them safe and sound in the hands of photographers who offer a similar service. This is why I also travel Europe and the UK teaching newborn safe posing skills to other photographers, and have also gained international recognition, having now trained people from Argentina, Malaysia, Kuwait, India and Hong Kong.
On top of that, l co founded The Baby and Newborn Photography Association and am now the resident safety co-ordinator at The National Photographic Society (The NPS)
